Taking Another Look
By Rebel40000

Greetings, everyone. It has been quite a while since my last article and thus I decided to start back with an oh-so-familiar topic...

The mysterious hand sign.

Now, after I first revealed by findings, I received some feedback on the subject on the Island Attackers' forums by REX Barron . Basically, I was made aware that not only were Mega Man X bosses subjected to this strange quirk, but Classic series bosses as well! All the way from the original Mega Man to Mega Man 7, the mysterious hand sign persisted throughout many of the Robot Masters, and eventually found it's way back in Mega Man 9, most likely due to Inafune handling the art. I also found that the hand sign existed within some of the Stardroids and the Genesis Unit, making it quite the interesting piece of info!

Therefore, I would like to say with most definance that it was indeed something that was linked to Wily. After all, it makes perfect sense if you look at the facts: Wily is behind all of the major events in every single Classic game. Even Mega Man V for the Game Boy, although he wasn't the final boss, he was still the driving force behind the events. And in the X series, Wily has been constantly suggested to be hiding behind the scenes, although he hasn't truly been heard from since X6. Of course, as was noted previously, anything after that point is largely irrelevant due to this.

It is with all of this laid down that I would now like to reveal the proof of all of these findings. All of the art was taken from The Mega Man Network's official art gallery, so all credit goes to them. If they didn't have this I would not have been able to make this article in the first place!

Quit a lot, isn't it? Let's not even forget, there could be more out there, art that has yet to either be found or be created. If you do not believe me, then do not worry, for I have more!

Dr. Wily
Dr. Wily Again
Bass
Vile

Of course it would make sense for the mad doctor himself to use his own ensignia a couple of times, and Bass is an obvious choice. Despite his not following orders, he was still built and programmed by Wily's hands. Vile, too, should be fairly obvious, being originally Sigma's right-hand man.

Dr. Light

And let us not forget Dr. Light! That notorious fiend, he... wait, what?

Proto Man

Proto Man? Sure, he worked for Wily at a specific point, but I'm not certain...

Roll

Roll too!? Just what does all of this mean, Mega Man?

Mega Man
Mega Man Again

...No, I refuse to believe this nonsense! It's all a big mistake! It just has to be!

Stop it!

Group 3

No more!

Why don't you just mess up the X series too, while you're at it!?

OH MY G...

...Whew, that was getting crazy. I apologize for that. Well, this certainly changes things quite a bit! Namely, just what does this all mean? At first, it was my belief that it was all about Dr. Wily, but seeing good guys wave around these hand signs is borderline ridiculous. Unless... Somehow, some way, Wily has secretly managed to brainwash the entire main cast! Of course, the only possible way he could do this to the likes of Mega Man and Dr. Light would be at the beginning, which would mean that, before even the first game, Dr. Wily already had his opponents in the palm of his hand...

Somehow, Wily has become an omnipotent being. Although he appears to be mad, utilizing the same schemes over and over again, in truth he is secretly playing with his foes, just biding his time, for he already knows that he has won. He enjoys messing with other's heads, confusing them, making them incapable of perceiving reality from fiction. He is the most diabolical villain ever conceived by man! To make his own enemies wave his own hand sign is a show of mockery, proving that he is the dominant force, and that nothing bad will ever truly fall upon him. The facts even prove this... none of the other cast members even appear in the X series, save Dr. Light, whose time has already come and gone, and Auto... the only person who was never deceived by the lies that Wily fed everyone.

Auto was forced to hide out, to spend the rest of his days watching TV in solitude. He desperately tried to build his own resistance, but over the years his body became very unstable, and thus he has become incapable of ever leaving his self-made prison. His only source of information, lying in a small, obsolete television set, with the constant fear that Wily would appear at any given moment to finally silence the last of those who would oppose him... for Zero secretly still pledges allegiance to Wily! Hence why X waves the hand sign, along with the rest of the Mavericks! X is merely confused, conflicted, not knowing why he is doing what has to be done... for the brainwashing has already affected him, but his systems are desperately trying to fight back. Of course, in the end it is far too late, and he ends up having a nervous breakdown in X7, before finally coming to terms that no matter what happens, he will never win in X8.

It is all a conspiracy! Wily fooled them, Wily fooled you, Wily even fooled me! Not even Inafune can escape his power! As long Inafune continues to draw the art for Mega Man games, Wily's evil shall continue to show no bounds! It will never end.
